At Westbrook Nature School, we believe that young children flourish and thrive when exposed to nature and the outdoors. A nature-based education challenges the body and feeds the soul. Set on 6 beautiful acres in West Redding, Connecticut, Westbrook, with its trails, streams, meadows and natural playscapes allows your child to experience the joy and wonder of the outdoors in a safe and loving environment, while meeting the child's instinctive need for exploration and discovery. Gardening and other stewardship activities deepen the child's relationship to the earth. Indoor time for crafting, storytelling, watercolor painting, quiet play and rest lends balance and structure to your child's day.
Our teachers have created an integrative curriculum based on daily, extended experiences in nature and the outdoors, balanced with indoor play and activities. This approach fully engages and integrates the senses, thereby meeting all learning styles.
Westbrook offers Parent/Child classes for children from birth to age three, Mixed-Age Kindergarten for children ages three to six, and Summer Programs for children ages three to seven.
“We have such a brief opportunity to pass on to our children our love for this Earth, and to tell our stories. These are the moments when the world is made whole.
